Former American Legion Commander Endorses Ackerson

Tom Bock, Former National Commander of the American Legion, Endorses Nels Ackerson

The American Legion is one of the Nation’s leading veterans’ service organizations, with over 2.7 million veterans involved nationwide.  Tom Bock was elected National President of the Legion in 2005.  A lifelong Republican, Tom served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and has a son serving in Iraq.

“Through our discussions about issues of great concern to military veterans and his approach to addressing them, I have reached the conclusion that Nels would be a true veterans’ advocate in Congress,” said Bock.

Former Assistant Attorney General Endorses Nels Ackerson

Judge Patricia Wald (ret.) endorses Nels Ackerson for United States Congress.

“I write enthusiastically to support the candidacy of Nels Ackerson for Representative in the U.S. Congress from the 4th District of Indiana. I have known Nels for over 30 years and have the utmost respect and admiration for his intellectual capabilities, his political acumen, and his absolute integrity. I cannot imagine a finer candidate to represent Indiana.

Nels is a mature and serious thinker on both national and international affairs. He knows the ways, but is not embedded in the culture, of Washington and Capitol Hill. His warm personality enables him to make and keep friends across political party lines. I can honestly say I do not know a single soul who has worked with Nels who does not admire and respect him. He is exactly the kind of representative a reform movement to defuse partisanship in Congress needs, as well as the kind of effective advocate the Hoosier State will be proud to have represent them.”

*Patricia Wald served as Assistant Attorney General for legislative affairs during much of the Carter administration before being appointed by Carter to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She was on the court from 1979-1999 and served as Chief Judge from 1986-1991. In 1999 Judge Wald retired from the federal appeals court and spent two years in The Hague with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. In 2003 Wald was appointed to the Iraq Intelligence Commission.

Clinton County Democrats Endorse Nels for Congress

The Roosevelt Kennedy Club of Clinton County added their name to Nels’ growing list endorsements. During the February 21st meeting of the Roosevelt/Kennedy club, Nels Ackerson was unanimously endorsed as “our” candidate for Indiana’s 4th Congressional District.
