Former Assistant Attorney General Endorses Nels Ackerson

Judge Patricia Wald (ret.) endorses Nels Ackerson for United States Congress.

“I write enthusiastically to support the candidacy of Nels Ackerson for Representative in the U.S. Congress from the 4th District of Indiana. I have known Nels for over 30 years and have the utmost respect and admiration for his intellectual capabilities, his political acumen, and his absolute integrity. I cannot imagine a finer candidate to represent Indiana.

Nels is a mature and serious thinker on both national and international affairs. He knows the ways, but is not embedded in the culture, of Washington and Capitol Hill. His warm personality enables him to make and keep friends across political party lines. I can honestly say I do not know a single soul who has worked with Nels who does not admire and respect him. He is exactly the kind of representative a reform movement to defuse partisanship in Congress needs, as well as the kind of effective advocate the Hoosier State will be proud to have represent them.”

Lee Hamilton Endorses Nels!

Dear Friends:

I have known Nels for more than twenty years as a man of unimpeachable character, committed throughout his life to freedom and opportunity.

Nels’ life embodies the American Dream. He grew up on a small dairy farm in Indiana, the grandson of immigrants. He was national FFA President and studied agriculture at Purdue before studying law and public policy at one of our nation’s other fine universities. And he has kept his Hoosier values throughout. Dear Friends:

I am writing to ask you to join me in supporting Nels Ackerson, who is running a strong campaign for Congress from Indiana’s 4th District. It is a privilege to be asked to serve as Honorary Chair of the Nels Ackerson for Congress committee.

Nels is a good friend with a long record of leadership and accomplishment. Nels fought side-by-side with us on some of the most difficult battles we faced in the Senate, and he shared in some of our most satisfying legislative successes. He is a native son and a proud Hoosier. After returning to private law practice, he earned a reputation in Indiana and across the nation as a courageous champion for homeowners, farmers, working people, small businesses and ordinary Americans against the powerful interests that tried to take their constitutional rights, their private property and their opportunities.  Sounds like “our kind of guy!”

Many of you know Nels, and I’ll not list here his many accomplishments or his positions on today’s vital issues.  I’m sure he’ll be talking about those issues from a common sense, Hoosier perspective.

Let me assure you that in all the years I have known him, Nels has proven himself to be a man of solid character and integrity.  He is one of the most experienced and best prepared candidates to enter the United States Congress that I have ever known.  And he has kept close to his Indiana roots.

I am contributing to Nels’ campaign, and I will be campaigning for him in Indiana. In whatever measure you can, I hope you will also contribute and volunteer.  With our help, Nels can be in Congress.

Sincerely,

Birch Bayh
