Indiana poet Arthur Mapes spoke well when he described Indiana as the setting for all of our dreams. It is the land where three generations of the Ackerson family have realized their dreams, and where my dearest dreams were inspired and have been fulfilled. Here I was born and have spent most of my life. Here my children were born and here was the setting for their dreams to begin. Here is the center of my life’s work. (more…)

The Park Service is trying to save the one. We can save the other.
America is a nation long used to the ironies of history. This July 4th we can add another. The National Park Service announced last week that the foundation of the Jefferson Memorial is no longer sound. The monument, one of the most popular in our nation’s capital, has sunk 6 inches into the mud in the past year alone. (more…)
